General Job Description

This is a professional position responsible for leading the recruitment of current and prospective students into the entrepreneurship program in the College of Business. Participates in entrepreneurship events, activities, and other Arnold Center for Entrepreneurship ( ACE ) offerings. Responsible for supporting ACE’s marketing and communications efforts, including but not limited to the creation, development and dissemination of informational materials pertaining to the ACE’s mission, programs, activities and events through a variety of social media platforms. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Director of the Arnold Center for Entrepreneurship.

Essential Job Functions

  • Plans and manages on- and off-campus recruiting events aimed at growing student enrollment in the entrepreneur program.

  • Attends various high school college fairs promoting ACE and the entrepreneurship program.

  • Counsels and advises current and prospective students, families, and the general public as it relates to university policies and procedures, the admissions process, entrepreneurship major and minor information, pre-college planning, career opportunities, etc.

  • Fosters public and personal relations between current and prospective students, their families, the university and ACE .

  • Assists in developing promotional and/or recruitment materials, including brochures, curriculum guides, and other related communication tools that conform to the identity standards established by the university.

  • Assists in creating visual and written content promoting the activities, events, programming, and mission of ACE .

  • Assists in the production and distribution of in-office printed materials.

  • Provides information to University Marketing Communications staff to be utilized in releases submitted to area media.

  • Serves as a contact for ACE , answering general questions and providing information to internal and/or external audiences related to ACE’s activities.

  • Assists in creating, maintaining and updating ACE’s website.

  • Assists in maintaining and growing ACE’s online presence through the use of new web techniques and websites, social media, and other networking platforms.

  • Compiles and analyzes regular and special reports related to area of responsibility. Informs the directors and makes appropriate changes based on data findings.

  • Assists with planning, implementing, and evaluating assigned programs.

    Non-Essential Job Functions

  • Assists with summer orientation, advising, and registration.

  • May assist with planning, organizing, and facilitating ACE activities, events, and meetings.

  • May represent ACE on various university committees.

  • May act as receptionist.

  • Assists with a variety of special projects and programs, when assigned.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or, using some other form of skills and abilities, be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of entrepreneurship and innovation ideations.

  • Knowledge of content management systems and social media outlets.

  • Knowledge of student or applicant recruitment.

  • Skill in public speaking and delivering presentations to individuals and groups.

  • Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database, presentation, and word processing software.

  • Ability to effectively market the programs and services of the department.

  • Ability to engage students and to create and enhance their connection to the institution and each other.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

  • Ability to explain policies and procedures to students, staff, and the public.

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.

  • Ability to learn office- and university-specific software.

  • Ability to obtain a Texas driver’s license and SFA permit prior to employment.

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

    Physical Demands

    Required Education

Bachelor’s degree is required. Related experience may be substituted for required education on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.

Required Experience and Training

One year of professional work experience is required. Experience with social media development, marketing, or content creation is required. Experience with recruiting or higher education admissions is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with higher education recruitment is preferred. Program and event management experience is preferred. External marketing relations experience is preferred. Previous entrepreneurial activities are preferred.

This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
