GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides leadership for all aspects of current services and growth of a
high-quality dental program at Terry Reilly. Completes all
administrative and leadership responsibilities of the Dental Director in
conjunction with performance of general dentist duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Dental Director:
Leads, supervises, and evaluates all staff dentists, dental hygienists,
and Dental Assistants. Engage staff through effective coaching,
mentoring, training, and team building. Conduct or oversee staff
performance appraisals. Manages employee time and attendance, including
requests for time off.
Establishes dental program goals and objectives, with involvement of
staff and advisors, consistent with BPHC policy directives and Terry
Reilly goals and policies. Assures appropriate proportions of
preventive, restorative, and emergency work.
Regularly develops and/or modifies existing Terry Reilly dental program
policies and procedures to cover all aspects of a well-run, efficient,
high quality dental program that promotes easy access for Terry
Reilly\'s target populations. Assures that all staff are aware of and
conversant with all policies and procedures pertaining to their
respective roles.
Exercises leadership in arranging for students/residents to do
placements in Terry Reilly dental clinics to the maximum extent feasible
and desirable. Provides the necessary orientation, guidance,
supervision, and evaluation of students/residents.
Collaborates with the Director of Clinic Operations to assure smooth
functioning of all aspects of the business side of the dental
operations.
Collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Behavioral
Health on strategies which support integrated teams, operations, and
patient care delivery.
Arranges and conducts dental staff meetings routinely, in a manner that
promotes maximum staff awareness, information-sharing, training and
development.
Implements a routine quality assessment and improvement process and
assures compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical rules
pertaining to a community health center dental practice.
Conducts quarterly chart reviews on all dental professional staff
employed within the program, using established standard review criteria.
Documents the results of such reviews for the permanent QA file.
Oversees privileging and credentialing of dental staff to assure care
delivery within approved scope of practice.
Investigates and manages dental patient complaints pertaining to quality
of dental services. Makes improvements as necessary, based on this
feedback.
Develops, monitors, and reviews budgets for each dental clinic and
consults with CFO, Director of Clinic Operations and Chief Executive
Officer on development of new budgets and/or budget revisions.
Regularly reviews dental fee schedules, charges and collections and
collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer, Director of Clinic
Operations and Chief Executive Officer to implement proposed changes and
improvements which support the revenue cycle.
Provide leadership on facility and equipment projects and purchases
which provide a positive work environment and qua ity patient care.
Promotes effective teamwork among dental program staff. Seek
opportunities to grow and develop dental leadership team.
Provides leadership and mentoring of Dental Assistant Supervisors to
help grow and retain dental staff.
Assesses and implements contract and reimbursement opportunities which
support and expand the reach of dental services.
Actively participates in the corporate meetings and responsibilities.
Represents Terry Reilly in community and professional events. Makes
occasional public presentations about the dental program and/or dental
issues. Participates in the local dental professional society.
General Dentist: Performs all duties and responsibilities of a general
dentist at Terry Reilly concurrently.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate from an accredited Dental School with a D.D.S. or D.M.D.
degree.
Licensed Dentist to provide care in the State of Idaho.
5 years\' prior experience as a direct or indirect supervisor of
employees, including recruitment, selection, and evaluation of such
employees.
Some prior experience managing business-related budgets.
Better than average understanding of dental public health issues.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong working knowledge of computer software systems including EHR,
Microsoft suite, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience directly supervising other dentists.
Prior work experience in a public health setting.
