Position Title: Senior Application Engineer - Bulk Material Handling
Compensation Range: $90,000-95,000 USD per year

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Application Engineer with expertise in bulk material handling equipment. In this role, you will apply your deep technical knowledge to provide technical expertise, solve complex technical problems, and ensure the successful design and implementation of customized material handling products. You will also serve as the subject matter expert and technical advisor, providing coaching and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers. This role requires a strong background in machine design, engineering principles and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities
Work within a configure to order product line, minimizing customizations while assisting ongoing product development.
Supervise and review the technical work of Application Engineers and designers, ensuring they meet project objectives and quality standards.
Apply engineering principles to solve complex technical issues in bulk material handling equipment, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with customer requirements.
Be the go-to expert for resolving technical issues or answering technical questions related to material handling systems and equipment.
Review and validate 3D models and drawings, ensuring they meet design standards and client expectations.
Create or oversee the creation and verification of calculations, specifications, and other engineering documentation to confirm accuracy and compliance with requirements
Read customer specifications, including identification of inconsistencies therein, or opportunity for improvements, maintains a customer focus, and verify integrity of what was quoted, entered on the order, and client expectations.
Coach and mentor junior and intermediate engineers, providing guidance on technical problems and supporting their professional development.
Lead the identification, development and implementation of process improvements to increase efficiency, enhance design accuracy, and streamline engineering workflows.
Create and update engineering calculation tools.
Prepare technical reports, memorandums, and presentations to communicate technical details to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
Travel to jobsites or AGI manufacturing centers when necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited University.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration as P.Eng., preferably in Illinois.
7+ years of experience in the bulk material handling industry, specifically in equipment design for conveying systems (elevators, belts, screws, chains).
Knowledge of material handling standards and industry best practices.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and strong skills in numerical tools such as Excel and Mathcad or similar.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve engineering challenges and improve equipment performance.
Ability to think critically and make informed and timely decisions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
Experience coaching and mentoring engineers.
