Position Overview:
This position develops and leads carbon markets and sustainability
program developments. The incumbent aligns existing carbon programs to
buyers of carbon and land owner contracts tied to sustainability and
additionality practice changes. Advocates and creates new value for
Compeer clients by developing reliable carbon access programs.
Essential Functions:
- Identifies, leads and supports new program opportunities by
researching, analyzing and making recommendations on program
strategies.
- Collaborates on driving the development of product and/or program
strategy and the alignment of product and/or program roadmaps to
strategy.
- Develops end-to-end solutions based on client input and feedback to
address market opportunities.
- Oversees ideas from ideation, concept, trial, development, and
deployment as the initiative champion.
- Collaborates with the Managing Director to identify, develop,
implement and execute sales programs strategies and tactics to
generate new business.
- Researches and identifies prospective new clients and increases
opportunities for business growth with existing clients.
Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor\'s degree in business, agriculture, forestry, sustainable
markets or related field or an equivalent combination of education
and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the
job.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the agribusiness/farming
industry, or similar experience in agricultural credit or closely
related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Carbon Markets or Sustainable
Forest Plans, preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state (Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin)
laws, regulations and compliance requirements specific to the
financial industry and Farm Credit.
- Solid knowledge of carbon offset and registries.
- Advanced understanding the program offerings by network partners
like the Farm Service Agency, USDA, SBA, and independent agriculture
groups.
- Solid knowledge of carbon registries, networks, and competition
within this industry.
- Advanced working knowledge of business development and relationship
management.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- High level of confidentiality and integrity.
- Advanced problem-solving skills, decision making, negotiating and
organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills with strength in attention to details.
- Ability to teach accounting principles and cashflow management.
- Ability to informally motivate in a team environment.
- Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, with
ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications and
customer relationship management (CRM) programs.
- Valid driver\'s license.
