TEKsystems Infrastructure Support Technician in Nashville, Tennessee

Description:

Our client is looking for an Infrastructure Support Technician to join their infrastructure team based in Nashville and London. This rewarding and challenging position will see you working in a busy, collaborative environment providing operational support and project delivery work. You will be installing, configuring, testing and maintaining servers, O/S, applications, software management tools and supporting a user base of some 900 staff globally

Scope of the role:

• To provide consistent and repeatable services through application of common processes and procedures

• Analyze problems and identify the root cause through coordination of internal and external support resources including the investigation of online knowledge bases and creating test environments to replicate any fault

• Prioritize support requests effectively to ensure compliance with agreed Service Levels

• Respond to critical incidents outside of standard office hours

• By agreement with the manager, work outside of standard office hours to minimize adverse business impact when instigating IT changes or performing planned activities

• As part of the Infrastructure Support Team, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the IT Network and System Infrastructure

• Work with Corporate to coordinate/aid with any corporate initiatives, and to ensure compliance with corporate standards and policies

• Work with the Information Security and Privacy teams to ensure all activities are compliant with Group policies and procedures.

• Escalate and then coordinate Issues and problems to internal / external third-party support

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

General:

• Help maintain the infrastructure in working order

• Monitor backups to ensure all business data is backed up and restorable

• Provide support to the Service Desk when needed

• Perform and coordinate regular patching for all IT infrastructure including servers, databases, networking, PCs and applications, which can include being available one Saturday or Sunday each month

• Maintain configuration documentation relevant to network (LAN, WAN, VPN), server and database infrastructure

• Support the Service Desk team in maintaining the physical asset register for network (LAN, WAN, VPN) and server assets

• Ensure all required tooling for monitoring and alerting of all appropriate infrastructure services is functioning correctly

• Support the technical production and testing of the IT Continuity plan creating and documenting processes and procedures to ensure the timely recovery of the systems in the event of an invocation

• Provide support for IT applications

• Perform system administration of the network (LAN, WAN, VPN), server and infrastructure including upgrading hardware, installing software and monitoring performance

• Manage and deliver IT projects within the IT directorate to quality, time and budget

Essential:

• Demonstrable competency to manage relationships with key stakeholders and a strong customer service focus

• Proven ability to adapt to a changing working environment with a flexible approach to working

• Calm and methodical in dealing with all incidents, particularly major incidents that are service-impacting

• Embrace a culture of best practice, process, compliance and continuous improvement

• Sound judgement in identifying, and dealing with security incidents

Experience requirements;

• Windows server administration

• TCP/IP, SMB

• Local networking, switching, and routing concepts

• Wide area networking

• Lenovo desktop hardware
