Naval Facilities Engineering Command ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington

Responsibilities You will identify environmental compliance issues related to drinking water quality, wastewater and stormwater treatment, air quality, POL storage tanks, spill prevention, hazardous waste, solid waste and/or natural and cultural resources. You will assist in implementation of standard environmental compliance technologies and/or solutions. You will perform efficient data management. You will apply environmental planning concepts required under National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to construction and facility maintenance projects. You will assist in preparation of legally and procedurally sufficient NEPA documents. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications FOR GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Identifying, developing, and implementing environmental compliance activities; 2) Providing technical advice to assist in resolving critical issues regarding compliance with environmental laws and regulations; and 3) Applying environmental planning concepts required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). FOR GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing assistance in administering environmental protection programs and the laws and regulations related to environmental protection activities; 2) Applying relevant environmental regulatory standards and criteria; and 3) Evaluating waste and identifying proper storage and disposal requirements; 3) Ensuring that data are collected and reported promptly and accurately. OR You successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. OR You successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled. OR You successfully completed a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. GS-09: Applicants that do not meet the specialized experience above may qualify with education or a combination of experience and education as follows: You have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR You have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree.
