Summary You will serve as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic within NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Responsibilities You will install refrigerant lines, air and water lines, controlling devices and associated equipment. You will use gas welding equipment for high and low temperature brazing, soldering or sweating. You will evacuate the system of air and moisture to at least 500 microns by using a vacuum pump and gauge to observe results. You will use all types of compressors such as reciprocating, centrifugal, rotary and hermetic and open type compressors. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision: installing, repairing, modifying, maintaining or troubleshooting air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
