JOB REQUIREMENTS: Advantage xPO is looking for a Junior Scientist I! Job Description: Position will contribute and provide support to the analytical lab team. Main responsibilities include performing scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, optical microscopy and image analysis using proprietary algorithms. Will contribute to method development on a routine basis and will assist in providing coaching and guidance to clients to meet research needs. Must demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Must possess strong problem solving skills to develop solutions and actionable items, as well as, strong analytical skills to collect and interpret data and information. Responsibilities also include: *Elemental analysis, material characterization and assisting in the development and facilitation of quantitative image analysis. *Perform data processing, review and preparation of internally reviewed technical reports, produce and present oral presentations to collaborating scientists and contribute to peer-reviewed scientific publications. *Contribute to lab innovation and equipment upgrades. *Research and assist in the resolution of consumer complaints *Produce publishable quality images and ability to illustrate key features. *Work with and around hazardous chemicals and other active chemical ingredients. *Perform equipment maintenance and upkeep, as well as, contributing to a safe and clean work environment. Qualifications: *Bachelor of Biology, Chemistry or Material Science *2+ years SEM Experience *Exhibit a theoretical understanding of microscopy methods and ability to apply these methods *Possesses fine motor skills and ability to isolate/manipulate microscopic materials *Strong technical skills with laboratory equipment and computers *Experience with image processing and analysis platforms such as ImageJ/Matlab a plus *Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite 5 *Strong attention to detail *Good interpersonal skills *Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
