An exciting and challenging opportunity has become available at Shire Neuchâtel Plant (approx. 650 employees) within a world-class Biotech manufacturing environment for an experienced, dynamic and team-player Reliability Engineer to join our Site Engineering team.

Job summary

Within the Site Engineering Department, the purpose of this role to improve the reliability of equipment & maintenance processes by applying the principles of the Shire Reliability Engineering Program.

Main assignments include:

  • Determine maintenance strategies & identify/implement opportunities for improvements.

  • Apply Root Cause Analysis methodologies to improve equipment that support manufacturing operations in a dynamic, fast-paced cGMP, biotechnology environment.

  • Measure reliability performance and demonstrate success of improvements.

  • Lead reliability driven actions that require independent and/or collaborative judgment.

  • Support capital projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total productive Maintenance (TPM).

  • Capacity to apply process improvement and reliability engineering principles, methodologies and tools such as Root Cause Analysis, Lean, SixSigma, DMAIC, FMEA.

  • Capacity to operate with agility and a learning mindset so that we can accelerate breakthrough innovations.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team-based environment.

  • Organized and detail focused.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Fluent in French and good working knowledge in English.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor/Master in Engineering and 3-5 years of experience in maintenance (preventive & predictive strategies) or site engineering, within a biotech/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and quality requirements.

  • Knowledge in one of following biotechnology equipment: Cell Culture, purification, aseptic filling, packaging, CIP, SIP, HVAC, plant and clean utilities.

  • Knowledge of CMMS and engineering & maintenance business practices / procedures, Maximo a plus.
