The Position

Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

Please refer to the link for more information: https://gov.nv.gov/Newsroom/ExecOrders/2023/Executive_Order_2023-011/ Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Incumbents will perform specialized duties related to criminal records, including data entry and maintenance of all aspects related to criminal records, sealing record preparation and completion, criminal and disposition data entry, criminal record modification, FBI disposition data entry, respond to challenges and CNC research requests, perform research on related subject matter, and entering pardons. Additionally, this position is required to research, review, and evaluate case information, provide information in a professional manner, and maintain confidentiality. Incumbents possess a high degree of knowledge and proficiency relating to the operations and processes of the Criminal Records Unit; perform independently with little to no supervision. The position will be responsible for researching, reviewing, and evaluating case information; assisting with training of permanent/temporary staff as needed; providing information in a professional manner and maintaining confidentiality. This position may require occasional shift modifications to meet the needs of the unit. This position will assist with testing and evaluating new software, processing DNA requests, pardons, record challenges, research, and updates, and will provide input for unit procedures and processes. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

Additional Position Criteria

This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
