The Position

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.

We are seeking a skilled Senior Administrator to join our team. Candidates should possess in-depth knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies, a good understanding of networking concepts, and experience in managing and maintaining OS server environments. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. Knowledge of Cisco Meraki switches and dashboard is considered a plus. Responsibilities include managing and maintaining VMware virtualization infrastructure, monitoring, and optimizing network performance, troubleshooting network issues, and implementing necessary network upgrades. Additional duties involve configuring and maintaining network infrastructure, such as switches and wireless access points, administering server operating systems through installation, configuration, patch management, and troubleshooting, and collaborating with other IT teams and departments to support ongoing projects and initiatives. Developing and maintaining documentation for IT systems, processes, and procedures, as well as providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, are also essential responsibilities. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
