Veit & Company, Inc. Bid Runner (Part-Time) in New Berlin, Wisconsin

Position Summary

The Bid Runner is responsible for delivering and retrieving bid documents, contracts, and other construction documents as requested. May assist Project Coordinators and Project Managers with other administrative duties as needed. May be required to pick up parts or make other various courier runs as requested. Work is performed on a part-time, on call basis. Hours may vary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivers completed and non-completed bid forms.

  • Accurately records bid amounts as directed by Project Manager, Estimator, or Project Coordinator

  • Relays information back to the Project Manager, Estimator, or Project coordinator.

  • Picks up and delivers contracts, plans, checks, bid bonds, and other construction documents as requested.

  • Assists Project Coordinators with plan documents, copying, filing, archiving and other duties administrative duties.

  • Occasional courier runs for part pickup, supplies, or other items upon request.

  • Keeps supervisor informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform assignments or adversely affect company operations.

  • Other projects as requested or required by Management.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.

  • Must be able to follow directions and navigate city driving.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to prioritize and take immediate action on high-priority tasks.

  • Ability to produce accurate work products.

  • Effective communication skills both oral and written with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to positively represent Veit to customers and external stakeholders.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience submitting and delivering public bids is desirable, but not required.

    Other

  • Schedule is Monday through Friday on a part-time, on-call basis. Must be able to work flexible schedule. Hours may vary. Overnight travel may be required on occasion.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

  • Ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

  • Must be able to utilize personal vehicle for bid runs. Minimum insurance requirements apply. Mileage reimbursement will be provided.

The employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit in a stationary position for extended periods of time; 50%+. The employee is regularly required to use a computer/laptop/iPad in an office environment with natural and/or florescent lighting, navigate between office building floors, and on occasion, travel to various offisite locations. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs, unassisted.

    Work Environment

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employees may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Most often an office environment, however travel to various customer and vendor sites is required. Employee frequently works alone and with others. Frequently exposed to variable work environments, including unique conditions outside a typical office environment.
