Minimum Education and Experience | Applicants are required to hold a certificate license as a Reading/Literacy Specialist. Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in elementary literacy education and have a demonstrated commitment to equity-focused teaching and service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in theory and research related to literacy instruction, and have extensive experience teaching reading in elementary school or as a coach/interventionist dealing with developmental reading and diagnosis of reading difficulties. Additionally, the successful candidate must have experience and expertise in literacy assessment, individualized instruction, language development, and/or evidence-based reading/writing instruction; and have evidence of innovative practices that advance issues of diversity, access, and social justice in education. The ideal candidate will have experience working in and with schools and/or community-based organizations serving linguistically, culturally, racially, ethnically, and economically diverse communities. We are especially interested in applications from individuals who are members of groups that have been and still are underrepresented in university faculty positions.Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.Preferred Qualifications: - Earned doctoral degree specializing in reading or literacy;
- A minimum of five years of teaching literacy at the elementary school level;
- Practical experience supporting reading development in K-6 schools and/or in clinical settings; and
- Experience in schools and communities serving children with diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
