Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking aAmong the key duties of this position are the following:
A Research Project Coordinator I position is available in the Parker and Matikainen-Ankney Labs within the Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience area of the Psychology Department at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey. This is a full-time position for a scientist with a background and interest in working with ex vivo and in vivo physiological recordings in rodent models. The position will involve conducting experiments, analyzing data, and rodent colony management.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field or discipline.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional research experience.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a relevant neuroscience area.
  • First-hand experience with electrophysiological experiments and data acquisition
  • Programming experience with Python or R
  • Strong grasp of synaptic physiology

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Lab environment: This is a joint position between the Parker and Matikainen-Ankney labs and will drive experiments in the fields of visual processing, motivated behaviors, and underlying brain circuits.
