Navistar, Inc. Vehicle Engineer in New Carlisle, Indiana

Position Overview

Navistar is currently seeking a Vehicle Engineer to join our team at our Navistar Proving Grounds in New Carlisle, Indiana. This is an onsite position working first shift.

Navistar's Vehicle Engineering Team plays a core role in all our engineering programs, including development of latest industry technologies such as Electric Vehicle (EV), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Autonomous driving vehicles.

We are responsible for establishing vehicle level attributes/requirements and managing development/validation activities, including vehicle and engine builds. We lead problem solving of engineering issues that arise during programs. We manage engineering gate reviews for all programs from concept charter thru Job1. We are responsible for managing multiple projects and leading technical and analytical discussions with cross functional teams. This position requires a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software systems as well as a process driven problem-solving methodology. We are responsible for understanding the end goal of the vehicle and features to develop the most optimized validation plan for each project.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes vehicle level attributes and requirements.

  • Leads problem solving of engineering issues.

  • Manages gate reviews for programs from concept charter thru Job1.

  • Manages validation planning and execution including engine and vehicle builds.

  • Responsible for managing multiple projects and leading technical and analytical discussions with cross functional teams.

  • Responsible for understanding the end goal of the vehicle and features to develop the most optimized validation plan for each project.

  • Track and manage validation and development resources.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

OR

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and will obtain degree prior to first day of employment

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software systems as well as a process driven problem-solving methodology.

  • Basic knowledge of Vehicle Systems, interdependencies, and their impact upon functional performance.

  • Understanding of truck applications and associated product requirements.

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Predictive analysis or test skills.

  • Proven leadership skills – demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and drive to completion.

  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills.
