Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1 year of experience with software development in C/C++.

  • 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related Engineering fields.

  • Experience working with global teams located in other regions and time zones around the world.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  • Passionate about smart home and IoT technology.

  • Excellent ownership and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn/grow.

The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Nest team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

  • Design, code, and test robust WiFi and Bluetooth software solutions for Google's line of home devices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Hardware, Product, UX) to integrate software components and ensure seamless device integration across operating systems (Android, embedded systems, etc.).

  • Ensure compatibility between smart home devices and a variety of smartphone platforms.

  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and unexpected behaviors in WiFi and Bluetooth interactions.

  • Utilize debugging tools and techniques to pinpoint root causes of complex software problems.
