About The Role

As a fund controller, you will assist the senior controller in coordinating the (fund) reporting by keeping track of timeliness and client expectations, working with internal and external collaborators, and preparing and reviewing fund reporting.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepares quarterly and annual fund financial statements for a large open-ended RE fund in a timely and accurate manner and assists with audit and tax preparation and review.

  • Prepare timely and accurate quarterly Fund Flash Report.

  • Assist in completion of quarterly investor related quarterly questionnaires, RFPs and DDQ.

  • Participate in the investment oversight within Fund accounting team including performing a secondary review of monthly/quarterly property packages.

  • Prepares, analyzes, and reviews NAV calculations and financial packages for completion and accuracy. Updates and monitors general ledger activity, and pricing of funds to ensure accuracy of quarterly NAV calculation.

  • Perform a detailed first-level review of the investor quarterly questionnaires, RFP, DDA, ad hoc investor request, investor audit confirmation etc.

  • Perform first level review of quarterly distributions notices, NAV Statements, Capital Call allocations.

  • Prepare or perform a first level review of complex Fund level quarterly debt covenants tests including borrowing base certificates, continuation form, extension form as required by the Lender and Client.

  • Oversee the fund level treasury and cash management functions including ensuring payments are made on time and as per the treasury policies and procedures.

  • Produces, reviews, and verifies financial information including investor funded and unfunded commitments, asset accrual methodology, and output, providing qualitative analysis and comments.

  • May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance, accounting guidance and/or portfolio specific training to others including property accounting managers.

  • Supports senior team members in the management of risk and compliance activities.

  • Troubleshoots escalated issues and ensures internal and client requests are handled timely, accurately and with a focus on customer service.Participate in recurring meetings with the client, adding value where needed.

  • Participates in systems testing and implementation related tasks if necessary.

  • May act as supervisor for junior team members and provide technical guidance and/or training to others.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.

  • 7+ years of accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Prior experience in fund level accounting preferred with real estate accounting background or fund accounting software systems such as Yardi.

  • Proven technical skills and knowledge of GAAP, FASB, REIS, IFRS, and in-region/in-country standards.

  • Knowledge of real estate terms, definitions, and real estate analytical methodology.

  • Strong coordinative skills and well-developed judgment

  • Excellent verbal and written English interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, interpret complex documents and solve problems.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the fund controller position is $110,000 annually and the maximum salary for the fund controller position is $135,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.  Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
