Team Overview
BlackRock Active Investment Stewardship (BAIS) is a specialist team which manages BlackRock’s stewardship engagement and voting on behalf of clients invested in active strategies globally. The team sits within BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group (PMG) which encompasses Fixed Income, Fundamental Equities, Private Credit, Systematic Investments, Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions and Private Investors Businesses. Our activities are informed by our Global Engagement and Voting Guidelines and insights from active investment analysts and portfolio managers, with whom we work closely in engaging companies.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a new function, and we are looking to build a team of high performing governance specialists globally.
About the position:
The Associate – Client Service and Communications will work with colleagues in BAIS, PMG, Corporate Communications and client-facing teams to provide content that meets the informational needs of clients and other stakeholders about the stewardship work we do on their behalf. The person in this role will contribute to developing content for client communications on the teams’ engagements with corporates and our policy positions.
They will also contribute to the team’s client strategy and priorities in client engagement and will be based in New York or London.
Key responsibilities include:
Contribute to client communications on BAIS’ engagement and voting
Convert information provided by BAIS team members and investment colleagues into content for regular client reports
Ad hoc reports or commentaries as required
Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs)
Client and portfolio specific reporting as required
Annual stewardship report
Reports covering voting and engagement activities with case studies and data
Work with Product Strategists and Client Relationship Managers to provide content for specific stewardship reporting and client engagement requests
Work with the Corporate Communications team on media responses, messaging, and briefing materials
Collaborate with BLK Global Creative teams and act as copy editor at final stage of key publications
Build and maintain a bank of client presentations, case studies and reports, RFP standard responses and talking points
Contribute to communications on BlackRock’s positions on emerging trends and issues
Work with internal specialists to develop thought leadership pieces, unique research, and opinion pieces (e.g. blogs)
Contribute to firm-wide publications and internal talking points on stewardship and sustainability themes
Support external engagement
Support senior colleagues in preparing remarks for public speaking engagements
Contribute to responses to external publications and consultations covering BAIS’ stewardship work in relation to BlackRock’s non-index equity holdings
Support relevant subject matter experts to develop talking points to communicate with companies BAIS’ views on emerging themes and trends and the likely implications for voting and engagement
Work with Legal and Compliance, and other functions as relevant, to review all materials to ensure consistent messaging and appropriate content
Desired qualifications include:
An undergraduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, or other relevant field that contributed to the development of strong research, qualitative and quantitative analysis and communication skills
Two-five years of experience within this field
A keen curiosity about corporate governance and sustainable business practices
The ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues across the firm and with external parties
The ability to prioritize, analyze, and resolve complex issues under time pressure
Details focused and persistent to see things through to completion whilst managing multiple tasks and changing priorities
An organized, self-reliant, and self-motivated approach to responsibilities
The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in writing and orally
For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$105,000.00 - USD$137,500.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
