Amazon Advertising operates at the intersection of e-Commerce and Advertising, offering a range of digital advertising solutions with the goal of helping our customers discover and shop for anything they want to buy. The Amazon Advertising business is growing at a fast pace and this team’s mission is to apply science and technology to accelerate that growth through best-in-class solutions. As the Advertising Measurement Research (AMR) team within the Measurement, Ad Tech, and Data Science (MADS) org of Amazon Ads, we conduct customer-relevant industry-leading research and metric development across advertisers and verticals, with the purpose of developing an understanding of how our advertisers’ investment impacts their businesses on- and off-Amazon.

We are seeking a self-driven Business Intelligence Engineer with strong analytical, visualization and communication skills to join our team. You will be working closely with other BIE and data scientists on the team to gather requirements for data infrastructure, tools, and processes. You often provide scientists with curated datasets, ensuring data quality and relevance. You will be responsible for analyzing large data sets, proving and disproving hypothesis, automating solutions and building self-service dashboards and reports. In addition, you will help data scientists communicate science modeling approach and results to stakeholders through reports, dashboards, and visualizations. You consistently employ high judgment and makes data-driven decisions, leading by example and influencing the team to do the same.

Key job responsibilities

  • Establish and drive data hygiene best practices to ensure coherence and integrity of data feeding into production ML/AI solutions

  • Collaborate with colleagues across science and engineering disciplines for fast turnaround proof-of-concept prototyping at scale

  • Partner with product managers and stakeholders to define forward-looking product visions and prospective business use cases

  • Drive and lead of culture of data-driven innovations within and outside across Amazon Ads orgs

About the team

The Advertising Measurement Research team designs and conducts research studies across advertisers and verticals, with the purpose of developing an understanding of how our advertisers’ investment impacts their businesses, both on- and off-Amazon. To benefit customers directly, we develop case studies or white papers, offering advertisers a comprehensive view of emerging measurement trends and best practices. Also, our work influences new product features and metrics to build.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab

  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
