Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.

The Controller, Accounting Operations provides daily management of Breaking Ground accounting operation functions related to Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Management. Works closely with the Controller-Real Estate and Controller-NFP to Provide direct support and assistance to CFO in accomplishing his/her responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Manages the day-to-day operations of Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Management

• Manages the preparation and processing of bi-weekly and weekly payroll. This includes reviewing and ensuring accuracy, investigating discrepancies, and verifying that transactions comply with BG policies and procedures

• Coordinates efforts between payroll, human resources, and other departments to ensure proper workflow and maintenance of employee records

• Manages Accounts Payable process and systems including related reporting and reconciliations• Manages Accounts Receivable balances, collections, and related reporting and reconciliations• Manages NFP cash operations and forecasts including lines of credit and debt covenants

• Assists with audits related to Payroll, AP, AR, and Cash functions

• Ensures proper internal control and adherence to BG policies and procedures

• Prepares special financial analysis as required

• Performs other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 7-10 years of public/corporate accounting experience, preferably in a financial management role

• Strong accounting background and hands-on experience managing daily accounting operations functions

• Strong management skills

• Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills

• Skilled at problem solving, written and verbal communication, attention to detail, planning/organizing, quality control, adaptability

• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously

• Bachelor's degree or MBA in accounting, or equivalent experience

• Payroll experience required, CPA preferred

• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with various accounting software (Blackbaud) and payroll systems (Ceridian) preferred
