Reporting to the Bursar Director, the Deputy Bursar will be responsible for managing the activities related to billing and collecting of funds from students and third-party organizations.

In addition to the CUNY Tile Overview, duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare invoices for scholarships requested by various external/internal organizations.

• Review and update payments from alternative loans.

• Create and manage the schedules for sending past due account balances to outside collection agencies.

• Work closely with Bursar Director to manage the assign/release of Bursar related holds.

• Review the daily posting of cash receipts for accuracy and completeness.

• Review student accounts for miscellaneous appeals.

• Update employee waivers in CUNYfirst.

• Manage unapplied credits in CUNYfirst.

• Manage third party voucher assignment and invoicing.

• Manage cashiering over/short and cashiering voids.

• Manage county chargeback billing and email notifications to students for applying for B81.

• Assist in the implementation and testing of CUNYfirst updates.

• Gather invoices for payment received from NYS and EdAssist on their portal.

• Provide collection/outstanding receivable reports and other ad hoc projects as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM

Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Manages a College student accounts function and related activities.

  • Participates in developing and implementing strategies, policies and procedures to ensure the prompt billing and timely collection of student receivables

  • Manages daily office operations; supervises the accuracy and security of student revenue transactions; enforces College and University policies regarding the collection of tuition and fees

  • Analyzes office performance against revenue targets and other relevant benchmarks; recommends and implements improvements

  • Assists management with developing strategic plans, evaluating outcomes and ensuring compliance with legal requirements

  • Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management

  • May serve as College's Return to Title IV Compliance Officer

  • May manage professional and/or clerical staff

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary range $79,188 - $96,602; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
