We are looking for a passionate and curious client-focused Design Coordinator to grow with our team.

Reporting directly to the Jacobs Construction and Design Leads, this position will be client facing and require technical coordination with the various design and construction disciplines related to the project’s upland civil works. The project involves the development of an offshore wind staging port in Brooklyn, New York. This position will be based at the construction site office (on average 4 days per week) and is specifically for the upland civil works which includes heavy-duty pavements, stormwater drainage, grading, and roadway improvements, site utilities, and site access and control. As the Design Coordinator for the Upland Civil Works, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Serve as an on-site technical resource providing overall responsibility for the resolution of design issues (in coordination with the office team)

  • Work in collaboration with the Equinor and Jacobs on-site project/site engineers and office-based design teams to resolve field issues requiring design changes in a timely manner

  • Clarify and develop RFI responses with the assistance of relevant design disciplines

  • Support the submittal review process and assist with maintaining timely responses

  • Assist with coordinating updated design documents as needed for changes required due to discovered field conditions and owner request for changes in design

  • Assist design disciplines with the prioritization of design issues based on urgency of implementation to keep construction on schedule

  • Bridge the gap between field conditions and design constraints to increase ease of implementation by construction team

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $175,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

  • Substantial years of experience in the design and overseeing of civil works construction, preferably in the New York City area

  • Experience working on infrastructure construction projects and relevant agencies such as DEP, DOT, DDC in the City of New York

  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred

  • Excellent communication skills as this position is client facing

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

  • This position will be located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and will be for 2 years
