Position Summary

Design Directors work as a key member of the creative design team helping to bring creative concepts to life through visual design. Design Directors must demonstrate creative ability in a variety of traditional and interactive medias and demonstrate ability with branding and design systems. They are part of design leadership and must take responsibility and set standards for the overall quality of the creative product within the design group.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire teams on projects and establish a visual design approach.
  • Guide the quality and standards of work for reporting teams ensuring that creative executions meet the highest standard of craftsmanship.
  • Manage workflow, timing, and assignments of remote reporting teams.
  • Work with the Creative Manager to select and assign resources as necessary.
  • Design and skillfully transform rough concepts into detailed and refined works of craftsmanship.
  • Review and approve all design work before presentations internally and to client.
  • Develop relationships and maintain contact with clients.
  • Lead and/or participate in New Business efforts as needed.
  • Professionally represent the agency in interaction with clients, staff, outside vendors and other contacts.
  • Participate in recruitment efforts for the design team by reviewing portfolios and interviewing candidates as requested by Creative Management personnel.

Qualifications

  • 4-6+ years of design experience in an agency setting.
  • Evidence of creative ability/talent (e.g. book of work).
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Fine Arts, Advertising, or related field.
  • Specialization in a variety of design skills including, but not limited to: illustration, typography, animation, photography, etc.
  • Experience creating rich and engaging design for advertising in various media.
  • Expert in MAC software and Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Spanish bilingual is a plus

The salary range for this position is posted below. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position, market considerations, budgetary considerations, tenure and standing with the Company (applicable to current employees), as well as the employee's/applicant's skill set, level of experience, and qualifications.

Salary Range
$130,000-$140,000 USD
