Description

We’re looking for a strong finance professional to partner closely with our marketing leadership team. This position offers a unique opportunity to directly shape the Amazon Fresh growth strategy.

The ideal candidate will be at the forefront of defining marketing investment plans and strategies, working hand-in-hand with our marketing leaders to drive growth while making progress on the path to profit. The role involves analyzing investment performance and providing insights that inform future decisions. Additionally, the successful candidate will play a key role in month-end processes, blending the ability to effectively communicate the business drivers behind the performance with robust accounting expertise (e.g., allocations & accruals).

Key job responsibilities

Marketing Strategy & Investment Planning (30%)

• Partner with marketing leadership to develop and optimize marketing investment strategies

• Create and maintain detailed financial models to forecast ROI across marketing channels

• Lead annual and quarterly marketing budget planning processes

• Evaluate new marketing opportunities and provide financial recommendations

• Design and implement marketing measurement frameworks

Performance Analysis & Reporting (15%)

• Analyze marketing campaign performance and provide actionable insights

• Create executive-level presentations on marketing effectiveness and efficiency

• Develop and maintain marketing performance dashboards

• Identify trends and opportunities for optimization

• Lead regular business reviews with marketing stakeholders

Financial Operations (15%)

• Own month-end close process for marketing expenses

• Manage complex allocation methodologies across multiple business units

• Ensure accurate accrual processes for marketing spend

• Maintain strong internal controls and compliance

• Partner with accounting teams to resolve complex transactions

Business Partnership (40%)

• Serve as trusted advisor to marketing leadership team

• Facilitate data-driven decision making across marketing initiatives

• Collaborate cross-functionally with brand, merchandising, and operations teams

• Present financial analyses and recommendations to senior leadership

• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives

• Track record of influencing business decisions through financial analysis

About the team

Who We Are:

The Grocery Finance organization is dedicated to shaping the long-term strategy and future of grocery, omni-channel and new physical store formats across Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science) and 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 7+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
