The Information Technology Bureau (ITB) is to provide all members of the New York City Police Department with the most advanced technology available in order to enhance operational performance and promote personal safety. The use of technology in law enforcement contributes to officer effectiveness and efficiency and is to the benefit of all citizens of the City of New York. The Administrative Division advances the Bureau's mission, vision and values by providing administrative support and operational oversight to all ITB divisions.

ITB Administrative Division is looking for a Graphic Artist to do the following:

  • Plans creative approaches and production of maps, books, pamphlets, annual reports, posters, presentations, ceremonial invitations and certificates and displays in buildings and structures.

  • Selects media and process to be used.

  • Selects and specifies , for printed material, type, paper and ink.

  • Estimates job costs for various printing process.

  • Orders appropriate engravings

  • Selects applicable bindings

  • Depicts, by means of illustrative renderings, proposed buildings and structures.

  • Interprets complex statistical reports and data in the form of charts and diagrammatic drawings in such manner as can quickly be understood and evaluated.

  • Selects salient points of texts for illustration.

  • Plans, designs and develops visual aspects of and information technology system, including pictorial displays, models, illustrations, charts and graphs

  • Plans and supervises art work performed under contract.

  • Servers in a consultative and advisory capacity in graphic problems.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loan after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full time for a qualifying employer, such as a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization. You may be able to consolidate a Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) and Federal Perkins Loan into a Direct Loan to qualify for PSLF

Qualifications

(1) A baccalaureate degree, with a major in fine or graphic arts, from an accredited college and one year of full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist; or

(2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus two years of training in a technical school approved by a state’s Department of Education or comparable governmental agency, in oils, water colors, painting, design, black and white, layout, computer graphics, and other art media, and three years of acceptable full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist.

To be qualified for assignment to Assignment Level II, individuals must have:

(a) at least one year of experience as a Graphic Artist, Assignment Level I; or

(b) the Qualification Requirements described in "1" or "2" above, plus two additional years of acceptable specialized paid experience conceptualizing and initiating graphic art projects.
