Position Description
Citi Ventures, a leading corporate venture capital team, is hiring a Manager - VP to support the Operations and Investing teams, with focus on fostering our internal cross-functional Commercialization and Partnership engagement across Citi Business Units and Functions. The ideal candidate is analytical and has experience working with venture-backed startups. The individual should demonstrate strong leadership skills and interpersonal skills and is expected to leverage business acumen and familiarity with the venture startup landscape, to identify strategic opportunities in partnership with the Citi Ventures Investing team.
The individual should demonstrate great project management skills and be able to deliver high quality results quickly. In addition to working closely with the Citi Ventures Investing team, the individual will collaborate with a broad set of internal Citi stakeholders, including Business Unit and Function leads and Citi Ventures Control Partners, including Finance, Controllers, Bank Reg, Legal, and Risk
This individual will report to the Head of Portfolio Operations at Citi Ventures and will be responsible for:
Developing reports to accurately track Citi Ventures progress on portfolio and non-portfolio company commercializations and Pilots/POCs, collaborating with Innovation teams and Citi BUs to do so
Leading the creation of Affinity dashboards to track and monitor goals related to # Commercializations and # New Capabilities Introduced
Partnering with CV Investors to manage efforts to commercialize CV portfolio companies, supporting the journey from inception to completion. Help operationalize Commercialization and Partnership progress within each vertical, with focus on planning, execution, and issue resolution efforts
Engaging with Citi Ventures portfolio company founders and sales leaders to provide support and guidance on Citi commercialization and TPRAP (third party risk assessment review) process and help set up calls, intros, and demos with internal Citi BU stakeholders interested in their tech
Overseeing the quarterly Catalyst Forum, including the agenda, content, and updates
Portfolio Client Development: in order to enhance the number of portfolio companies that are clients of Citi, developing and maintaining processes with the product groups (Banking, Wealth, Services and Markets) to driver referrals and track client metrics
Identifying additional opportunities through engagement with Innovation Partners across Citi
Leveraging best practices from cross-functional partnerships team and other internal partners to contribute towards the development of a robust internal C&P function within Citi Ventures
Collaborating with the Citi Ventures Marketing and Communications team to advance commercialization awareness and Business Unit and Function connectivity and related thought leadership
Assisting MarComms team and CV Investors with any research or content creating for various fintech/enterprise Saas deep dive, landscapes, newsletters, etc
In addition to the above core set of responsibilities, this individual will broadly be responsible for portfolio and business management activities including providing analytical, operational and risk management support across venture investing activities including, but not limited to:
Supporting operational tasks related to the new Investment Assessment and Due Diligence process
Assisting with monthly/quarterly metrics collection to assess performance against set Citi Ventures goals and accomplishments, delivering key insights on risk & opportunities vs. goals
Utilizing Affinity CRM platform to ensure all records are kept up to date and all analytical dashboards reflect accurate information. Assist with ideation and development of new Affinity based dashboards to track sales team performance against goals and funnel/pipeline conversion metrics
Collaborating with Finance partners to prepare updates to Quarterly Portfolio Reviews, specifically as it relates to data gathering, slide preparation, commercialization updates, and more
Other CV Investor support and risk management responsibilities, inclusive of managing weekly team routines
Qualifications:
Excellent presentation, communication and influencing skills
Excellent PowerPoint and slide creation skills and ability to tailor slide content to audience knowledge base and seniority level
Direct or aligned experience in business development and partnership implementation
Experience in Project Management or Strategic Initiatives Management and 3rd party due diligence and onboarding
Solid Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to quickly develop advanced knowledge of MS Excel
Quick learner with excellent communication skills, team oriented mentality, and ability to work with counterparts in different areas of organization
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline: Finance, Mathematics, Sciences, Statistics, Economics, Management, Operations Research
5+ years of work experience in Financial Services, Investment Banking, Investing, Management Consulting, or Data Analytics/Data Science
Acute attention to detail, substantial problem-solving, as well as self-sufficiency and accuracy in delivering results are essential
Ability to project manage tasks from start to completion with minimal input and oversight
Understanding of the Venture Capital landscape inclusive of knowledge of high growth fintech/enterprise SaaS startups and top-tier VC names and their investment strategies, are a plus
