The legal assistant will play an integral role within the Alternatives / Private Equity Group of Neuberger Berman’s Legal and Compliance Department functioning as both an administrative assistant and paralegal. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills and strong written and oral communication skills, and be able to interface with a variety of internal and external counsel in Dallas, New York and London, and various colleagues and business groups across the firm. The ideal candidate is a professional who is able to work at a high level and in a fast-paced, demanding environment. This job will require strong writing and reading skills and the ability to think critically and issue spot. This is a good position for someone considering law school.
Provide legal / paralegal support, including:
Reviewing and coordinating with internal lawyers, external lawyers, business people, counterparties and clients on non-disclosure agreements
Tracking various legal processes (ex. non-disclosure agreements entered by the group, compliance calls etc.)
Organizing and maintaining books and records pertaining to multiple advisory entities and funds, as well as transaction closing sets
Assisting in preparation of legal documentation for various transactions
Completing and reviewing formation documentation and structure charts
Chaperoning compliance calls
Provide administrative support for legal and compliance department, including:
Liaising with finance and accounting to facilitate payment of legal invoices
Answering, screening and routing high volume of phone calls
Scheduling internal and external meetings and conference calls
Filing expense reimbursement forms and organizing travel
Performing ad hoc projects as needed
Strong writing and analytical skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Ability to perform in fast paced environment
Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented
Strong time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently
Resourceful and able to handle multiple and changing priorities
Ability to communicate effectively with senior management
Must be teamwork oriented and also be able to work independently with minimal guidance
