Youth Action YouthBuild Manager of Follow up and Services Initiatives in New York, New York

Youth Action YouthBuild East Harlem (YAYB) is committed to helping young adults become dedicated, responsible, educated, accountable, motivated and self-sufficient, by assisting participants in obtaining their HSE’s, obtaining post-secondary education, gaining industry credentials and securing sustainable employment, particularly in the areas of construction, the food economy and the building trades. The YAYB Manager of Follow up and Service Initiatives exercises discretion and is responsible for working with current and past participants to ensure that our youth have access to substantial service opportunities and post program support and ongoing connection to community resources. The Manager will work to build and sustain community partnerships to support the service leadership component of our program which facilitates the growth and development of the young people we serve. The Manager will maintain regular ongoing and systematic contact with recent program graduates in the follow up phase, including regular calls and meetings, connection toappropriate support services, training opportunities and other assistance as appropriate and oversee documentation of contact, and collection of required follow up documents such as pay slips, hire letters for up to a year after graduating from the program. The Manager coordinates a calendar of service opportunities to help students earn service awards and community leadership opportunities and supervise participants during said projects. In addition, the Manager will facilitate structured events and the development of a strong alumni network. Events are designed to facilitate ongoing positive connections to the agency as well as provide supportive resources to YAYB alumni that include but are not limited to employment and community service opportunities, professional development/work retention, enhancement of life skills andconnections to social services. The SF Manager also supports discrete day to day programactivities as needed such as monthly fire drills and the distribution of student meals and plansstudent events with the support of program team members.Qualifications:● Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Education, Human Service, Social Work, or otherrelated field.● Experience with Community Outreach and managing community partners● Three years of work experience with youth development, community development,partnership development, and/or collaborations with local services and resources● Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. The ability to relate to a wide range ofissues, people and institutions.● Ability to work independently and part of a team.● Exceptional planning, organizing, and multitasking skills along with good attention todetail.● The ability to set and follow through on priorities and demonstrate great timemanagement skills.● Strong written and verbal communication skills.● The ability to facilitate and supervise a minimum of five and a maximum of up to 30young adults between the ages of 17-24.● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.● Flexibility to travel for occasional grant related conferences or program-relatedexcursions.Responsibilities:● Oversees Student follow up activities and documentation of contact● Coordinates in conjunction with the Manager of Workforce Programs Exit Planning forgraduating YouthBuild students● Sources, organizes and oversees service opportunities for enrolled AmeriCorpsYouthBuild students● Supervises participants in conjunction with the program team during serviceopportunities.● Oversees the enrollment of YAYB-AmeriCorps participants into the service programwhile maintaining the integrity and compliance of YAYB-AmeriCorps grantrequirements.● Initiates and completes FBI and other background checks while securing associated fileswhile working in conjunction with the fiscal department and Program Director tofacilitate payment.● Document and track participants’ progress in the service component of the E: Grants andData YouthBuild (DYB) database.● Design, establish, co-lead a regular calendar of alumni events in conjunction with theManager of Workforce Programs.● Assist with the planning and execution of YAYB’s recruitment, orientation and selectionprocess.● Attend planning meetings to assist with the implementation of the academic calendar anddaily program schedule.● Maintain student service files for 35 current participants and up to 35 alumni participantsannually.● Maintain accurate, thorough and current case notes detailing all contact with students infollow up and program alumni.● Collect and provide necessary documentation for reporting in accordance with grantrequirements.● Oversee daily attendance to record participants clock hours at YAYB.● Create and maintain participant timesheets on a monthly basis.● Oversees monthly fire drills and associated logs● Generates periodic reports and program updates, documenting achievements andmilestones and to identify program gaps/challenges within the YAYB service component.● Participate in scheduled staff meetings.● Supports agency wide initiatives including fund-raisers and service activities● Oversees student meal distribution and holiday events● All other duties as assigned by the program’s leadership.PROGRAM HOURS: Generally, 8:00 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekendand overnight hours may be required.

Minimum Salary: 53,000 Maximum Salary: 55,000 Salary Unit: Yearly
