The State University of New York College of Optometry, located at 33 West 42nd Street in Manhattan, is accepting applications for a NYS Department of Civil Service Plant Utilities AssistantSchedule is rotational every 5-6 months and also vacation relief:1. Sunday - Thursday 6:30 AM - 3 PM, Off Days are Fridays & Saturdays2. Thursday - Friday 2 PM - 10: 30 PM, Saturday - Monday 11AM - 7:30PM. Off Days are Tuesday & WednesdayDuties include assisting in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment providing heat, hot water, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical distribution. Will work under supervision of a Plant Utilities Engineer 1or 2. Perform light plumbing and electrical work. This position is on a 4-year apprenticeship track, leading to Plant Utilities Engineer 1 Grade 14 position.Minimum Qualifications can be found at:https://www.cs.ny.gov/examannouncements/announcements/oc-cr/decentralized/20-450.cfmSelected candidate will be required to complete an approved certificate course in HVAC, BMS, Refrigeration, Electrical, and Plumbing from an accredited technical school or technology college.Hiring Rate for this Grade 9 position is $40,193 plus $575 shift differential and $3,087 location pay. Current NYS employees will receive the hiring rate or a percentage increase in basic annual salary, whichever results in a higher salary.
