Job Information

The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Postdoctoral Research Scientist in New York, New York

We are a new lab that seeks to understand how tissues coordinate with the immune system to defend against pathogens. The specific project aims to use new CRISPR tools to conduct targeted and genome-wide combinatorial forward genetic screens to dissect cell-intrinsic host defense networks. Our goal is to map genetic interactions amongst interferon-stimulated genes to assemble a hierarchical network of how individual cells defend themselves against diverse intracellular pathogens - including bacteria, parasites, and viruses. The individual will also synergize with our larger effort to assemble an anatomical atlas outlining how the compartmentalization of these pathways facilitates tissue-specific immunity in humans. This is aided by our unparalleled access to living human tissue samples obtained from organ donors as part of a novel initiative in Human Tissue Immunity and Disease unique to Columbia University.
