Project Manager, Activation and Transition Planning

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Director, Facilities Activation and Transition Planning

Role

As the demand for services at HSS continues to grow, HSS is seeking a dynamic individual to assist in the continued strategic growth of our organization. The Project Manager is expected to work closely with a variety of teams including Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC), Operational Excellence, Information Technology, front-line leaders (clinical & non-clinical), external vendors, and consultants to develop and implement the activation plans for opening new facilities. This highly visible position will have exposure to leaders across the organization.

The importance of transition planning and facility activation cannot be overstated. Opening an HSS facility is a complex process, with just one shot to get things right. It takes a diverse set of stakeholders – from front-line staff to construction managers – working together to open facilities effectively for caregivers to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own project management functions for activation of each new strategic facilities site, including partnering with HSS leadership across various departments to own and develop activation plans that integrate activity schedules across multiple workstreams.

  • Act in a key role to manage the transition from facilities construction to the teams who will operate new sites, including partnering with various teams to ensure smooth site opening and delivering the highest level of customer service to efficiently open new HSS facilities.

  • Support development of processes and tools to build standard approach and capabilities to open new HSS sites, including aligning the activation and construction schedules, planning communications and employee engagement, progress reporting and dashboards, task management, and reporting and managing risks and issues.

    Example Projects

  • Partner with HSS leadership across various departments to build consensus around the intra and interdepartmental workflows around transforming HSS’s Main Campus including partnering with nursing, support services, IT, physician offices, materials management, and corporate administration. This transformation includes opening the new 100,000 SF HSS Kellen Tower over the FDR Drive in Manhattan as well as several parallel renovations in existing facilities required to support an efficient and seamless patient journey at HSS’s Main Campus

  • Partner closely with the Ambulatory Services and other HSS leadership to plan and execute activation of new outpatient centers with multiple modalities of musculoskeletal care including physician practices, imaging, and rehabilitation, ensuring strong partnership with the operational teams and smooth project delivery

  • Partner with external consultants to refine activation tools and processes for ease of collaboration by multiple users across different project types

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (e.g., BA, BS, BSN, BSW) in Business, Healthcare, or related professional degree required

  • Master’s degree (e.g., MA, MS, MBA, MCM) in Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration preferred

    Experience

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in project management, preferably while working in healthcare systems or hospitals

  • Proven success in managing complex, large-scale projects

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and delegating across diverse groups of leaders

    Skills

  • Project management knowledge and expertise

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive a multi-functional, multi-level team forward on tasks

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and exercise influence in a complex, multi-departmental, and matrixed environment

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation

  • Demonstrated ability to execute on complex healthcare projects and to balance competing priorities across multiple projects

  • Adept at managing change and ambiguity

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and ability to identify and solve problems

  • Able to work effectively when the way forward is not obvious, and resilient in recovering from setbacks and skilled at finding detours around obstacles

  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies

  • Experience working with MS Office products and applications used in process mapping, process design/redesign and project management (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Visio, Lucidchart, Monday.com)

Pay Range - Minimum

USD $100,000.00/Yr.

Pay Range - Maximum

USD $125,000.00/Yr.
