Reporting to the Director of Threat and Vulnerability (T&V), the Security Tool Architect is responsible for configuration, maintenance, and deployment
of security tools. Tools in the environment perform several functions including network discovery, vulnerability scanning, data aggregation, firewall rule
review and much more. There will be new tools that this position will be responsible for in the future.
It is expected that the person in this position will work closely with the security and operations teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience deploying,
configuring and supporting a variety of security tools. This individual must be proficient in Linux and must have scripting/coding experience. Some custom API script interactions
will need to be developed. Lastly, this individual is responsible for configuring inter tool data flows and data aggregation.
This person will conduct a holistic review of the tools deployed and determine the optimal method for their use. They must also be comfortable interacting with tool vendors as well as
evaluating future tools. They will thoroughly document the tools environment including all data flows and configurations. As the tool expert they will act as a resource to the rest of
the security team conducting training on tool use.
Lastly, the Tool Architect is expected to become familiar with the data and the environment so that they can assist with analysis and review. They are responsible for the creation of
KPI dashboards for members of the security team along with IT Operations. Setting up and maintaining key performance indicators to provide improved visibility based upon hard
numbers from various systems in the environment is a key function of this role. Additionally, the will develop reports regarding the health of the security program for both internal
and external consumption.
the ideal candidate should have 5-7 years of combined experience with the following skills as guidelines.
Required Skills
5+ years deploying, configuring, and supporting IT security tools covering several of the following areas:
Network Discovery
Vulnerability Scanning
Data Aggregation
Firewall Rule Review
Application Security
Configuration Management
Email security
Data Leakage Protection
Ticketing (Openview, Jira, etc.)
3 years designing and configuring tool integrations
3 years of conducting application proof of concept evaluations
3 years of experience with data manipulation
3 years of experience using Visio to create security application data flow diagrams
3 years of scripting/coding experience (python, C#, Perl, etc.)
