New York University Senior Laboratory Associate (Angelaki laboratory) in New York, New York

Dr. Dora Angelaki’s Lab (Center for Neural Science, NYU; http://www.cns.nyu.edu/corefaculty/Angelaki.php) is searching for a full-time Senior Laboratory Associate to join their team.

Performs responsible research work of a complex nature that requires planning, completing, and

occasionally supervising limited research projects in accordance with general plans approved by the supervisor. The person (or people) hired will be involved in all aspects animal projects and will be expected to run the day-to-day operations (animal husbandry and handling, training animals on behavioral protocols, etc.).

Responsibilities include:

Behavioral training and testing of research animals.

Assistance with electrophysiological measurements.

Regularly inspects facility to assure the highest quality of animal care and required sanitation standards.

Monitors to assure compliance with all animal care and facility maintenance procedures, standards, and guidelines.

Assists with development of Standard operating procedures and guidelines.

Interacts and coordinates with veterinary services staff to assure health and welfare of

animals.

Assists and interacts with investigative staff to meet their research needs.

Inspects facility to assure compliance with USDA, PHS, AAALAC, NYU, and other relevant

regulations, guidelines, and policies. Examines operations and procedures to assure efficient

utilization of manpower, equipment, and facilities and to assure that relevant regulations,

guidelines, policies, and procedures are followed.

Confers with faculty periodically to evaluate new equipment and methods.

Assists investigators with appropriate treatments for research animals.

Manages research projects and research personnel.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $68,000- $72,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Required education: BS or MS in Neuroscience or related field

Minimum 5-10 years of experience working in a laboratory setting and experience in coordinating research projects and managing research personnel. Experience in laboratory research support; Proficient in research methodology and laboratory procedures.
