  • Job Type: Officer of Administration- Regular/Temporary: Regular- Hours Per Week: 35- Salary Range: $101,400.00-$116,700.00The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryThis position is based in the Columbia University's Climate School Food for Humanity Initiative in New York City and reports to the Professor Jessica Fanzo. This position would help to establish and coordinate the Food for Humanity Initiative's progress toward a series of collaboratively defined strategic goals. Internally, this work would help create a common purpose and a strong institutional identity. The goals would also create a framework to foster coherence across multiple work streams, allowing the Initiative to articulate how its varied efforts combine to impact the food systems field.Responsibilities- Create a learning agenda/coherent framework/vision across the Initiative. This includes, but is not limited to, a theory of change, results framework.- Develop an implementation strategy and key priorities for this agenda, with internal and external partners. Identify existing research strengths at Columbia, gaps, partnerships, need for new people, sets of tasks.- Support implementation of existing research projects in the portfolio to ensure achievement of outputs and meeting of obligations under grants.- Work with the director to identify strategic opportunities and develop new projects or initiatives as appropriate.- Act as an entry point for the Climate School and university with the Initiative, including as an interface on finance and administrative matters, and social media requests.- Lead knowledge management and inform communication activities to ensure Initiative activities and information are available to donors, partners, and university.- Lead design and management of learning events and knowledge-sharing efforts, such as global events, workshops, peer exchange, and symposia.- Support food systems education at the university and more broadly. Support the development of outputs that can be used in educational contexts, engaging with appropriate undergraduate and graduate programs to understand and fill needs for FS education, linkage of students to research projects, linkage of students to external partners.- Identify strategic research areas and be engaged as appropriate.- Collaborate on the development of strategic areas of focus for both NYC and NY state.- Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required and minimum 4-6 years of experience on programs/policy required.Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree in international development, agriculture, food, nutrition, climate change, environmental sciences or related field.Other Requirements- Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects and activities. Willingness to do a wide-range of work. Strong interpersonal, writing, and presenting skills.
