The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Columbia University School of Nursing is looking to hire one (1) Student Research Worker to provide research support for several NIH-funded projects in the areas of primary care, health care workforce, and racial and ethnic health disparities in chronic diseases. The selected incumbents will report directly to the Principal Investigator and will work with other researchers to achieve key research tasks. A biostatistics background is highly preferred. The candidate will work closely with the team to perform/maintain social network analysis in R software.

There is a possibility for additional hours (limit is 20 hours per week, dependent on other roles held within Columbia University) depending on project needs.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • conducting statistical review of data sets and data analysis;

  • supporting survey preparation and implementation;

  • conducting data cleaning, preparation and building statistical models, preferably using SAS or R;

  • helping with data management;

  • assisting with literature reviews, grant, manuscript, and presentation preparation;

  • participating in research-related meetings;

  • performing other related duties as assigned.

This position is grant funded and continued employment will be contingent upon the grant.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's diploma or equivalent and a currently enrolled student at Columbia University.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of/experience working in biostatistics;
  • Experience with research projects
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Possessing of data management, analytical and writing skills;
  • Solid experience with data management.
  • A biostatistics background and/or experience with health-related research is highly preferred. A master's degree in a related field (complete or in progress) is highly preferred.
