Description
We are seeking a mechanical engineer to design structural and sealing components for wire harnesses. The engineer will collaborate with other engineers to generate concepts and deliver completed designs while drawing on knowledge and techniques for designing mechanically robust components.
Role
Collaborate with other engineers to generate concepts for harness routing and packaging.
Develop concepts to finished designs, delivering drawings and CAD.
Perform engineering analysis to ensure components meet requirements for durability,
manufacturing and cost
Engage with suppliers to achieve lowest cost, procure prototype parts and schedule tooling
Travel to vehicle builds to collect manufacturing feedback. Travel to suppliers as needed.
Gather requirements for durability and functionality and work with a validation engineer to
Create a test plan
Skills
2d schematics, 3d, designing brackets, DFMEA
Additional Skills & Qualifications
5+ years experience as a mechanical engineer
Experience designing brackets, snap-fits, living hinges and plastic and metal fasteners
Able to conduct stress, torque and tolerance analysis through hand calculations and FEA
Adept with Dassault 3DExperience geometric surface and part design
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
Preferred
Full lifecycle experience for automotive programs
Knowledge of existing harness routing strategies for various OEMs
Experience designing electrical components such as connectors and terminals
A portfolio of past projects that demonstrate good engineering mindset and analysis

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.
