As the Registered Nurse, this position is responsible for providing outstanding patient care and physical support for patients on a daily basis and in a professional and compassionate manner. Responsibility includes creating and/or maintaining accurate patient records, administering medication, and monitoring side effects, recording vital signs, and reporting symptoms and changes in patient conditions.
Essential Functions:
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of Weston County Health Services (WCHS)
- Maintain accurate, complete health care records and reports
- Administermedications to residents and monitors them for side effects and reactions
- Records resident vital signs and medical information
- Monitor, report, and records symptoms or changes in resident condition
- Administer non-intravenous medications as required
- Assess, implement, plan, or evaluate resident nursing care plan(s)
- Modify resident health treatment plans as indicated by resident conditions and responses
- Answer resident calls and determines the best course of action to support them
- Provide physical support for residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting in and out of bed, toileting, walking, standing, or exercising
- Turn and reposition bedridden residents as required
- Ensure residents receive appropriate diet, by reviewing dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences
- Obtaining a wide range of information regarding resident condition, treatment plans, and suggested activities, as needed
- Measure and record food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and report changes to medical or nursing staff
- Record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested
- Examine residents to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine
- Remind residents to take medication and nutritional supplements, as required
- Note observations of resident behavior, including complaints or physical symptoms to nurses
- Collect samples for lab testing, as assigned
- Provides emotional and psychological support, when needed
- Communicate with residents' family to provide advice, comfort, and instructions, as required
- Coordinate with medical staff and other departments, to ensure efficiency
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and other assigned meetings
- Adhereto accreditation and compliance standard guidelines
- Assist in completing required reports, program reviews, and preparation
- Assist visitors with directions whenever requested
- Report safety hazards as appropriate
- Replenish supplies as needed
- Follow all infection control practices, including handwashing techniques, Standard Precautions, and Isolation Precautions
