Applied Research Associates, Inc. Senior Systems Administrator in Niceville, Florida

Description

As a Systems Administrator, you will be instrumental in:

  • Designing, operating, and maintaining IT networks within a DoD environment

  • Imaging workstations, provisioning accounts, server network administration and implementing USAF cybersecurity policies

  • Resolving IT tickets and providing critical IT support to over 60 end users ensuring the continued smooth operation of both unclassified and classified networks

  • Designing, implementing, and optimizing the IA, network, server, and storage architecture supporting a joint DoD mission

  • Mentoring junior employees

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor systems/network advising senior staff of network failure/degradation or security issues

  • Image workstations, prepare training shipments, manage equipment inventory

  • Organize, manage, and lead an IT team to provide proactive and reactive solutions in support of the warfighter

  • Build, manage, and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) network systems and standalone enclaves

  • Assist the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in producing, maintaining, and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), System Security Plans (SSP) and Authorization to Operate (ATO) documentation

  • Produce artifacts and generate reports to support Information System (IS) compliance using tools such as DISA STIGs, SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC), and STIG Viewer

  • Provide information assurance (IA) support to the ISSO and ISSM

  • Provide content management (CM) for security-relevant information, system software, and hardware

  • Develop short-term and long-term strategies for the secure operation, evolution, and growth of hardware/software infrastructure

  • Assist managing budgets and make recommendations based upon customer requirements.

  • Manage and maintain an EMSEC/TEMPEST certification package

  • Securely process, manage, ship, and track classified materials

  • Assist users with daily IT needs

  • Perform cross-training duties (as directed)

  • Perform cybersecurity duties (as directed)

  • Consult users and customers for technical solutions to challenging problems (as directed)

  • Supervise junior employees, mentoring and coaching performance

The ideal candidate will be a hard-working, detail-oriented team player capable of diagnosing IT problems, implementing workarounds and rapidly resolving incidents. As part of our operations branch, this person will be comfortable working independently but also enjoy working collaboratively and building close relationships with colleagues. Applicant must be self-motivated, have the ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment, be ready to learn and is happy to support occasional out of hours work, as well as limited travel within the continental US.

Experience in maintaining networks in a secure government environment would be a distinct advantage to the applicant. Ability to obtain Security + certification required. Must be able to lift 35 lbs. sit, stand, walk, and climb ladders unassisted.

Position requires four to seven years of related experience. Technical training/coursework in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field preferred. Additional consideration is given to candidates with a bachelor's degree (in Computer Science or related field).

Applicant must be a United States citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
