Job Title: Systems Engineer SME

Location: Eglin AFB, FL

Canvas, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer SME to perform Advisory and Assistance Support (A&AS), supporting the Guided Weapons Evaluation Facility (GWEF) on Eglin Air Force Base. As a Systems Engineer SME, you will support developing and integrating various electronic warfare systems in a ground test environment. These tasks will include defining system hardware requirements and architectures and being fully involved in the systems' development, integration, and verification/validation. You will support the implementation and incorporation of USAF life-cycle system engineering processes for supporting simulation ground tests and review and validate system engineering proposals, schematics, and design details in the acquisition of next-generation test instrumentation and infrastructure hardware and software. You will also assist in drafting DoD-level documentation such as proposals, statements of work, system specifications, hardware and software requirements and design specifications, interface control documents, and system test plans and test procedures.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of Systems Engineering experience in one or more of the following: understanding of the total lifecycle for complex hardware systems, in-depth understanding of requirements development, hardware development, hardware integration and verification and validation processes of complex systems.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of EW simulation systems and components.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of DoD system engineering processes to include IEEE15288.1-2014 Application of SE on Defense Programs, ISO/IEC 26702 - Application and Management of the Systems Engineering Process, ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010 - Architecture Description, and EIA 632 - Processes for Engineering a System.

  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad perspective.

  • Experience with basic CAD drawings.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Experience with Electronic Warfare, Threat Emitter, or other RF systems desired.

  • Experience with embedded software architecture, hardware/software interfaces, Interface Control Documents (ICD) and requirements analysis/management desired.

  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) capabilities, proficiency in MS Project for Critical Path Analysis, and hands-on experience with CAMEO Enterprise Architecture Software desired.

    Required Security Level: Must have and be able to maintain a Top Secret /SCI security clearance.
