STEP-UP, INC. BOOKKEEPER ACCOUNTING CLERK in Norfolk, Virginia

Bookkeeper/Accounting Clerk is responsible for maintaining financial records, running reports for management and recording a wide range of financial transactions, based on a nonprofit agency who obtain local, state, and federal monies. Bookkeeper and Accounting Clerk's responsibilities vary on their experience. The staff shall be responsible for monitoring accounts to ensure account data is correct and accurate and balance all accounts monthly making sure that all bank accounts are balance and statements completed. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must know Quick Books and all reporting
  • Using bookkeeping databases, spreadsheets, and software
  • Posting financial transactions using appropriate computer software
  • Receiving and recording vouchers and checks
  • Entering debits and credits into software applications and databases accurately.
  • Producing a variety of reports including income statements and balance sheets.
  • Checking for accuracy in reports, figures, and postings.
  • Reconciling and reporting any discrepancies found in records.
  • Match purchase orders confirming prices and quantity to vendors invoices
  • Check accuracy of employee reimbursement expenses before processing.
  • Process all checks for payroll, expenditures, and provide reports.
  • Deposit all taxes in a timely manner as well as all federal, state, and Virginia Employment Reports.
  • Balance monthly the bank statements for all accounts.
  • Check the Time and Attendance Sheets and the timecard to make sure they reconcile.
  • Staff needs to multitask and determine priorities to complete tasks as accurately and efficiently as possible.
  • Need written and verbal communications skills to ensure that other staff members understand.
  • Able to handle sensitive financial details and according to schedule.
  • Know the local, state, and federal forms for new employees and process them accordingly.
  • Good math skills as well as computer skills
  • Integrity-keep confidential information such as staff salaries and other important documents.
  • Carry out any other duties directed by the Executive Director.
  • Provides up-to-date reports to the STEP-UP Board of Directors
