Job Title: Cardiac Cath Lab/Special Procedure Radiologic
Technologist
Job Description:
-The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional care giver who
assumes responsibility of patients for a designated time frame and to
provide care, specifically in the Invasive Lab.
-The patient population consists of those requiring an invasive
cardiology or invasive radiology study.
-The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all
procedures and provide a valuable service to the patient and the team.
Essential and Department Specific Job Functions:
Essential Functions:
-Administers contrast material (when applicable), according to
physician\'s request, by means of existing IV line or by performing
venipuncture and placing IV line; recognizes and responds to
hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
-Anticipates set-up and needs for invasive procedures.
-Assists with inventory/supplies.
-Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and
treatment position.
-Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology,
etc.
-Administers medication in compliance with scope of practice.
-Documents accurately and completely.
-Explains procedure to patient and provides for patient care- including
comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.
-Performs all essential functions of the Invasive Lab Radiologic
Technologist.
-Performs on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet
department needs.
-Required to float to all procedural areas.
-Maintains a clean and neat work area.
-Demonstrates competence in the operation of imaging, physiological
monitoring, and related equipment; Performs basic troubleshooting for
this equipment.
Department-Specific Job Functions:
-Able to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures.
-Administers and with holds contrast and treatment as appropriate.
-Assess patients for allergies.
-Function as a scrub and monitor technician on a rotating basis during
procedures. -Assists physician during interventional procedures.
-Able to take call after 6 months of orientation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate\'s Degree in Related Field OR Certificate in Radiologic
Technology
- BLS
- ACLS
- IEMA Radiography License
- ARRT
- 1+ year experience as general radiographer
- Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care and
procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively, follow directions, and complete
detailed work accurately
- Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others
- Manual dexterity to handle small supplies
