The Department of Human Services, Norristown State Hospital is seeking a driven, efficient Maintenance Repairman 2 to perform building maintenance. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment. This includes using hand tools such as hammers, saws, chisels, rulers, manual and electric drain cleaners, wrenches, brushes, scrapers, and trowels. Due to the nature of this work, the ability to use power tools is expected.
In this position, you will perform plumbing maintenance and repair, heating and cooling unit maintenance and repair, as well as minor electrical and mechanical maintenance and repair to machinery and electrical distribution systems and equipment. You will also complete remodeling work on walls, ceilings, and floors in new and existing buildings. In addition, you will construct scaffolding, cabinets, shelving, bookcases, and walls. You will be required to participate in the Asbestos Abatement Program which involves asbestos removal and encapsulation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Work schedule may change based on operational needs.
Overtime may be required as operationally necessary.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement:
You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
