Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Job Description

An Assistant Project Manager (APM) obtains, evaluates, coordinates, and distributes the information and authorizations necessary to construct projects on time, within budget, and to the specified quality. The APM is responsible for protecting and promoting the interests of both the business and client in all matters while demonstrating the personal characteristics of a leader.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain adherence to the company's standards of safety.

  • Ensure that required documentation is filed.

  • Assist in creating and managing project budgets for all assigned projects.

  • Develop pre-construction RFP packages.

  • Assist in conducting project meetings, setting milestones, and formulating monthly owner reports.

  • Establish job processes (RFIs, submittals, and pay applications) including approving pay applications and negotiating subcontract change orders.

  • Update project schedules; ensure project quality control and establish overall project logistics.

  • Assist in managing the closeout process.

  • Collaborate with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the life of the project.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business is strongly preferred, but additional work experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.

  • 2-5 years of experience in commercial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractor.

  • Previous experience on commercial job sites is strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in sector/project-specific software systems including Microsoft Office suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), ProCore, Adobe, BlueBeam, and JD Edwards.

  • Strong ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally with a focus on audience-appropriate business writing and verbal skills.

  • Positive attitude and passion for construction and the industry.

  • Ability to gather data, interpret it into meaningful information, and communicate it clearly and concisely.

  • Strong organizational and task management skills.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement of knowledge and abilities.

  • Flexibility and adaptability with changing technology, design, and methods.

  • Ability to collaborate with people from various backgrounds and styles.

  • Ability to create and maintain relationships with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.

  • Passion for construction and the industry with a focus on quality.

  • Ability to see how pieces and processes fit into and affect the bigger picture/business model.

Work Environment

This role involves working on construction projects located in Blythewood, SC. The work environment includes managing various technologies and equipment essential for construction management. The role requires collaboration with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the project lifecycle.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr.
