**DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL PROJECTS HVAC

Job Summary: F+F Mechanical Enterprises Inc. is seeking a qualified and motivated individual who is ready to put their problem-solving and organizational skills to work. The Mechanical Coordinator works in the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) department and is responsible for providing project related mechanical and plumbing coordination and drafting functions for F+F Mechanical Enterprises, Inc. The Mechanical Coordinator must have the ability to lead coordination meetings and direct other trades in coordination related issues. The Mechanical Coordinator works on challenging systems and oversees coordination of mechanical and plumbing systems on projects of various scales and complexities. Responsibilities include using Revit, Sysque, Navisworks and other associated software to draft and prepare shop drawings to allow for fabrication and installation of mechanical and plumbing systems in commercial buildings. The Mechanical Coordinator also plots drawings to support Field staff, Officers, and Project Management, attends internal and external project meetings, and writes requests for information (RFI's) to clarify questions on the project. In addition, the Mechanical Coordinator is responsible for field measuring existing/as-built conditions and drafting findings.

Reporting Structure:The Senior Mechanical Coordinator is supervised by and reports to the VDC manager.

Physical Factors: The Senior Mechanical Coordinator works in the North Haven office. Working on a specific project for a prolonged period of time may also be required. Sitting or standing for long periods working on the computer or at a desk is required.

Working Conditions: The position is full-time and works an eight (8) hour day. The start time is 7:00 and ending time at 3:30. Workdays are Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be required to meet the needs of the business.

Essential Functions/Competencies:

  • Use of Autodesk, Trimble and other associated software to draft and prepare shop and coordination drawings for commercial mechanical and plumbing projects.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and abilities to lead major coordination efforts on large complex projects.
  • Provides BOM's and develops/prints parts list as required (Hanger List, etc.) of various project components.
  • Writes RFI's to clarify questions and concerns and obtain information necessary to accurately draft and coordinate project.
  • Understanding of building/mechanical/plumbing code.
  • Prepares shop fabrication drawings.
  • Prepares spools and drawings for pre-fabrication and assembly.
  • Field Measures existing/as-built conditions and drafts findings.
  • Plots drawings as needed to support Field, Project Management and Estimating functions.
  • Adheres to project plan and office standards throughout project including startup.
  • Attends internal and external project coordination meetings.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Knowledge of construction means and methods
  • Understanding of various HVAC/P systems and components for commercial/industrial applications of various sizes and complexities
  • Ability to read and comprehend contract documents
  • Knowledge of industry standards governing MEP coordination
  • Experience using VDC software
  • Thorough understanding of Building Information Modeling (BIM), including use of BIM applications throughout building projects
  • Ability to work independently as well as on diverse teams

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience with VDC software
  • 3-5 years of experience in HVAC and/or plumbing systems
  • Experience drafting and coordinating for commercial buildings
  • Ability to work independently and to get along with others
  • Comfortable with technology and the use of computer programs
