QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelors Degree (B. A.) plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience working with veterans Lived Experience Required
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word. Ability to become proficient on other software products as utilized by the position
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills required able to interact with all levels of associates in a respectful, confidential manner
Capable of communicating in a culturally sensitive manner to veterans and individuals with disabilities
Strong familiarity with Veterans issues and supporter of the philosophy of individual empowerment
Daily access to an automobile is required. A valid NY State Drivers License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.
Must be able to travel locally and regionally for meetings
Remain current in all agency required trainings
Effective and collaborative team player
Maintain strong work ethic, strict adherence to code of ethics, standards of conduct and confidentiality requirements
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises Veteran Outreach Coordinators
Recruits and trains Veteran mentors and tracks activity
Identifies resources within the community and VA system for Veterans
Assists in development of specialized training projects for the mentors and coordinators
Conducts assessments on mentees
Facilitates vet to vet relationships
Plan and coordinate events and activities for Dwyer participants and their families as well as the Veteran community to engage Veterans with the Dwyer program
Participates in relevant community groups such as the Suicide Prevention Coalition, Hudson Valley Task Force, Support Group and others
Prepare presentations about the Dwyer Program
Contact Rockland County groups (identified above and beyond) to present material about the Dwyer Program
Distribute materials about the Dwyer Program throughout Rockland County
Strategizes and implements outreach and engagement activities to reach the Veterans of Rockland County
Maintain accurate documentation on the agency system of all people served
Maintain strict confidentiality and protect Agency operations by keeping information confidential and secured
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops Reviewing professional publications Establish personal networks participate in professional societies
Adhere to all Agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to corporate compliance, personnel and fiscal policies and procedures
Establish and maintain a strong attention to detail, ensuring work is accurate and complete, and adheres to all established deadlines
Effectively and professionally interact with all levels of associates
