Line Cook Job Description
The Line Cook reports directly to the Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Lead
Cook, whoever is on duty.
The Line Cook will be neat and clean and in uniform, as described in our
dress code. The Line Cook
will conduct him/herself in a professional manner at all times.
The Line Cook will have a variety of duties and responsibilities. The
Line Cook will maintain the
restaurant concept, menu, and operational standards.
Job Description and Responsibilities: Examples of these responsibilities
include, but are not
limited to, the following:
? Be on time for your shift and be prepared and ready to work
? Be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
? Set up stations and collect all necessary supplies to prepare menu for
service
? Prepare a variety of foods; meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and
cold food items
? Arrange sauces and supplementary garnishes for allocated station
? Cover, date and correctly store all bits and pieces and food prep
items
? Notify Chef , Sous Chef or Lead Cook in advance of likely shortages
? Serve menu items compliant with established standards
? Use food preparation tools in accordance with manufactures
instructions
? Close the kitchen correctly and follow the closing checklist for
kitchen stations
? Maintain a prepared and sanitary work area at all times
? Keep the work area fresh all through the shift
? Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored
appropriately
? Constantly use safe and hygienic food handling practices
? Return dirty food preparation utensils to the appropriate areas
? Assist with all duties as assigned by Chef
? Help with dish station as needed
? Help with Prep Staff as Needed
Communication: The Line Cook must communicate in a professional manner
with coworkers and
management. The Line Cook must also be able to understand instructions
and communicate when he
or she needs more direction.
Problem Solving: Line Cooks must recognize a problem when it arises and
be able to resolve it
appropriately by using good judgement and initiative according to
company policy and procedure
