The Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing is responsible for developing comprehensive commodity-level strategies informed by strong understanding of market and business trends and driving execution of strategic initiatives and timelines.

ESSTENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage site category and commodity strategies including spend analysis, benchmarking, cost, market analysis and global technology / economic trends.

  • Utilize 80/20 mindset to develop and execute commodity strategies aimed at achieving targeted improvements in cost savings, on-time delivery, quality, and lead times.

  • Lead cross-functional efforts to develop and execute comprehensive commodity strategies to reduce supply base complexity for assigned commodities includes identifying opportunities for product complexity reduction and leading project teams to do so.

  • Conduct detailed agreement negotiations, including comprehensive agreements, and ensure capacity planning and supply chain strategies are implemented to meet on-time delivery.

  • Drive RFP/RFI/RFQs and lead cross-functional teams with supplier selection process. Define cost drivers, develop cost models and establish should cost analysis.

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers of assigned commodities ensuring that the best total cost is realized. Contracts include such items, as discounts, payment terms, shipping terms, stocking agreements, quality parameters, service requirements, supply chain connections and other items deemed valuable.

  • Manage existing supply base to continually improve performance.

  • Monitor and understand current suppliers and economic conditions to effectively mitigate risk.

  • Assist in site tactical procurement escalations, reconciliations and reporting as required.

  • Execute strategies to align with business growth and new product introductions.

  • Lead, develop and mentor a team of commodity managers

  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering related field

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience related to procurement in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • At least 5 years’ experience in sourcing with demonstrated performance and leadership competency driving strategy, operations performance results and cost management.

  • Well-versed in the procurement of goods and services, preferably chemicals and/or compounds and indirect experience a plus.

  • Experience in the development and implementation of business strategies

  • Demonstrated success in achieving results through collaboration with organizations not under your management responsibility (effective salesmanship of ideas and plans)

  • Demonstrated successful leadership experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • MBA or advanced degree

  • CPSM or CSCP certification

  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Tools

  • Commodity experience in electronics and/or castings highly preferred

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Experience in the development, negotiation and implementation of contracts and deployment of supply chain processes and best practices for an organization of a similar size and scope

  • Demonstrated experience in influencing, developing and motivating people from diverse backgrounds; able to lead cross-functional business teams

  • Demonstrated people leadership skills; developing direct reports and others

  • Working knowledge of ERP applications

  • Working knowledge of quality systems, lean and continuous improvement processes, and project management processes

  • Thorough knowledge and application of budgeting, financial analysis and cost control practices

Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area. Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron and face shield must be observed.
