Job Description

As a constantly growing company, Danfoss is looking for motivated employees who want to work with us on our success. We are looking for a Lead - Power Electronics Engineer to join our diverse team.

Job Responsibilities

Your role is being envisaged as Lead Engineer- Power electronics in new product development team tasked with end-to-end product development of next generation of Variable frequency drives/AC-DC-AC converters for Danfoss power electronics & drives.

Key tasks

• Design and simulate circuits & topologies using design tools such as MATLAB, PSPICE, ANSYS. Essential to have hands on experience in three phase circuit topologies e.g. inverters rectifiers and power supply circuits, DC-DC converters e.g. buck, flyback.

• Select & carry out device characterization of power modules (Si IGBT/MOSFET/SiC/Diode) from 1200V to 1700V. Estimate power losses and predict thermal stress for various semiconductors using internal design tools or multi-physics simulation tools.

• Design magnetics (transformers, inductors) for various power converter topologies using tools like MATHCAD & PSPICE and realize design samples through vendor interactions.

• Design, simulate & realize analog/ digital circuit (operational amplifiers. logic gates etc.) perform various type of analyses and select appropriate components considering thermal & safety aspects.

• Guide team on carrying out EMC Tests as per relevant standards, debug and resolve EMI/EMC issues.

• Support design verification & product validation test activities as per applicable IEC/UL/marine standards.

• Review & provide guidance to the younger team members in design, prototyping, realizing, and testing of the product.

• Work with a multi-disciplinary development team comprising of mechanical, embedded electronics, supply chain and product owners to deliver products.

• Lead activities like DFMEA and adhere Danfoss processes for product development.

• Work closely with supply chain to create test instruction for PCBAs & units for production process control.

• Work with manufacturing & global suppliers to test & qualify components and assemblies during prototype development and resolve issues as needed

Since the job is in R&D, the candidate must acquire knowledge/skills continuously on latest trends and technologies within Power Electronics and Drives the candidate should have willingness to travel within India and overseas if required for training / competency building / prototype testing

B.E (EEE/ECE/Power Electronics) and ME /M.Tech on Power Electronics and Drives

Minimum Requirements To Working Experience

Experience of 10 to 12 years

Essential

• Experience in circuit design (analog/ power/digital) and component selection / design viz. power semiconductors, passive devices (magnetics, capacitors).

• Demonstrated experience in developing at least product from design to validation compliant to industry standards.

• Hands on experience with dynamometer setups (rectifier inverter testing test) and lab instruments (scope, HV supplies, analyzers, DMMs).

• Well versed in creating test plans based on industry standards (product & component) followed by data analysis, review, and troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools such as system & circuit simulators such as MATLAB, SPICE.

• Effective communication skills & technical documentation skills.

• Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives.

• Knowledge of power electronics.

• Familiarity with Electric machines modeling and control.

• Experience with IEC, UL, and CSA regulatory standards.

Desirable

• Experience in guiding PCB layouts engineer for mixed signal boards considering thermal, electrical safety and EMC aspects.

• Experience with design for fabrication, assembly, and testability for printed circuit board assemblies.
