The National Security Campus (NSC) is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) facility managed and operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technology (FM&T). Our primary business is to manufacture sophisticated mechanical, electronic, and engineered material components for our nation’s defense system. Our goal is to seek innovative solutions that surpass our customers’ expectations.
We are seeking a Coatings/Adhesives Engineer to work in the Materials Engineering Department. This talent will perform a variety of advanced materials analysis, conduct high level research and advance process method developments. In addition will assist in evaluation of material specifications and operations procedures to support both production and R&D on a wide variety of materials. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and test chemical materials and conduct system compatibility experiments using standard ASTM standards to assess properties under required conditions. Furthermore, this talent should be able to leverage other analytical techniques to provide unique solutions for challenging problems.
The candidate will participate in studies that may include designing, synthesizing, characterizing, and developing materials of interest to support defense research and development innovations
The successful candidate will enhance the capabilities of an ongoing adhesives, coatings and thin film technologies used at the site, working within a multi-disciplinary organization dedicated to advanced materials studies by leveraging industry standards and ASTM standards
Extensive working knowledge of material characterization and techniques applied to materials properties is needed
Working knowledge of complementary analytical test methods required
You Must Have:
US citizenship is required, in order to obtain and maintain US Dept of Energy ""Q"" level security clearance
B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field from accredited program
MS or higher is desired
0-2 years of industrial experience required
MS in Materials Science, Nanotechnology Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field along with significant testing and analysis experience at the graduate or Post-doctoral level
Knowledge, with experience in instrumental analysis
Strong Leadership ability and ability to actively contribute to teams or work independently
Experience in the preparation and presentation of analytical information to all levels of stakeholders
Demonstrated knowledge of at least one of the following: Plasma Enhanced CVD, Silicones, Acrylates, Epoxy, Curing Agents Coatings or Paints and Primers is desired.
Basic Knowledge of Conformal Coatings, Nano particle management a plus
Experience using MS Office Suite desktop applications, such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Able to work independently with little to no supervision on all job responsibilities
Ability to manage multiple assignments and responsibilities concurrently
