Mississippi Blood Services Apheresis Tech (Main Center) / Flowood in Pearl, Mississippi

This Position is for an Apheresis Tech (Main Center) with a blood services agency location in Flowood, MS.

Duties and Responsibilities include: Perform all duties described in standard operating procedures accurately and efficiently; Effectively manage three bed (automated and manual) collections; Performs all aspects of registration of whole blood and double red cell, and red cell plasma donors, donor screening, safety procedures & screening special procedures including Autologous, Directed and Therapeutic donations; Performs all aspects of medical history, vein puncture procedure and donor monitoring; Accurately perform all aspects of automated 2RBC procedures and RBC/Plasma procedures in conjunction with whole blood donations; Quickly and competently responds to any donor reaction; Completes donor collection (automated and manual) paperwork accurately; Troubleshoot Automated collections equipment/procedures; Performs daily, weekly, monthly and PRN maintenance on apheresis equipment; Performs all AM and PM duties of the Apheresis department; Treats donors and other staff in a friendly professional manner; Effectively use Vista Collection System; Effectively use DoVac Elite Computer System; Participates in donor recruitment and scheduling; Dependable and flexible with the ability to occasionally work mobile blood drives that require travel; Able to meet irregular work hours, including weekends; Valid MS driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Report; Ensures management has current telephone contact information in order to reach you; Maintains current CPR/ AED certification; Performs CPR as needed; Performs all aspects of safety procedures; Stocks and maintains interview areas, phlebotomy collection area and canteen; Assists in training of staff as designated by department Manager; Effectively communicate with Telerecruitment regarding units collected/needed.

Requirements and Qualifications include: High School graduate or equivalent along with a stable work history; previous experience or training desirable; Basic computer skills, including accurate data entry; Ability to meet fluctuating work schedules-Desire to make a difference, in this case, a lifesaving difference every single day; Ability to work with and through others in a friendly, cooperative, unselfish manner; Ability to work closely and accurately within established guidelines, while sometimes working at a faster than average pace; Aware of and responsive to the needs and concerns of others; Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.; Pre-employment drug testing required.
